Shuler Named Player of the Week, Again
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Fans will be excused for experiencing a bit of déjà vu when they learn Kennedie Shuler has been named the WCC Player of the Week.
The junior earned the conference’s weekly honor for the second straight week after leading the Beavers to wins over San Diego and San Francisco. She was also named a USBWA Player of the Week last week.
Shuler averaged 21 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game in the victories. She scored a career-high 24 points in the Beavs’ Thursday win over the Toreros before her typical all-around mastery showcased itself with 19 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals against the Dons.
The Gresham, Ore.-native is making a case for WCC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 14.7 points, 6.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game in league play. Defensively, she is the only player in the league who averages at least three steals and one block per game (3.2 and 1.2 respectively).
Shuler’s award is the fourth WCC Weekly award for the Beavs this season with her, Tiara Bolden and Jenna Villa each earning player of the week honors prior to Monday.
Oregon State returns to action on Thursday when it heads to Gonzaga for a rematch of January 22nd’s overtime thriller.
