Four Beavers Named To Stopper Of The Year Watch List
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Zach Edwards, Jack Giordano, Albert Roblez and Isaac Yeager have all been named to the Stopper of the Year preseason watch list, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced on Tuesday.
The four help comprise a preseason watch list that features 104 pitchers from 17 different conferences. The honor is given annually to the nation’s top relief pitcher.
Edwards pitched in 16 games a year ago for the Beavers, striking out 22 in 18 2/3 innings, posting a 1-0 record and 5.79 earned run average.
Giordano transferred to Oregon State from San Diego after making his collegiate debut last season. He finished with a 1-2 record in 18 relief appearances, striking out 21 in 16 1/3 innings.
Roblez is also a transfer, coming to Corvallis from Long Beach State where he was a second-team all-conference selection last year. He finished with a 4-3 record, 2.78 ERA, four saves and 79 strikeouts.
Yeager was an All-Big-Ten selection last season, where he went 4-1 with a 3.78 ERA. He made 24 appearances, finishing with 57 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings, earning seven saves.
