Hughes, Moore on Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon running back Makhi Hughes and quarterback Dante Moore were named to the preseason watch list for the 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year award on Monday morning.

Hughes and Moore were among 45 players on the watch list for the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade, which is presented by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Oregon is one of eight schools to have multiple players on the Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list. 

It is the second national player of the year award watch list this preseason for Hughes, who was also recognized by the Maxwell Award. He was also named a Walter Camp preseason second-team all-American. 

Hughes, Moore and the Ducks begin their first full week of fall practice on Monday as they prepare for the 2025 season opener against Montana State in Autzen Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 30 (1:00 p.m. PT, Big Ten Network).

» Rushed for 1,000-plus yards each of the last two seasons at Tulane.

» All-AAC first-team selection in 2024, rushing for 1,401 yards and 15 touchdowns.

» As a redshirt freshman in 2023, rushed for 1,378 yards and seven touchdowns. 

» Has rushed for 100-plus yards 14 times over the last two seasons. 

QB Dante Moore – Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list

» Entering second season with the Ducks after transferring from UCLA following 2023 season.

» Appeared in five games for Oregon in 2024, completing 7-of-8 passes for 49 yards.

» Played in nine games while making five starts for UCLA as a true freshman in 2023.

» Threw for 1,610 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023, completing 114-of-213 passes.
