OSU VB: Beavs Open Home Slate with ASICS Invitational
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Volleyball makes its return to Gill Coliseum this week as Oregon State opens their home slate for 2025 with the ASICS Invitational. Head coach Lindsey Behonick’s squad will welcome Montana State, UC Irvine and Montana State over the course of the event.
Numbers to Know
0 – Oregon State will not play another match in the regular season outside the Pacific Time Zone.
1 – Lauren Rumel was the only WCC student-athlete named to the gold medal-winning Team USA at the U23 NORCECA Pan American Games earlier in August.
2 – Oregon State is coming off of two sweeps over UC San Diego and Boise State in their last two outings.
3 – The Beavers are one of three WCC schools to have three student-athletes from Hawai’i.
7 – Oregon State is starting a stretch of seven consecutive matches in the Willamette Valley between now and September 27.
115 – Jackie Matias (62) and Emma Lilo (53) combined for 115 assists last week in the Boise State Classic.
Hurry Home!
• Oregon State will look to win its second home opener in the Behonick era on Thursday.
• OSU swept Oklahoma in the 2023 ASICS Invitational and fell in four to Washington last year.

Volleyball in the Valley
• Between this week and September 27th, the Beavers will play solely in the Willamette Valley.
• Six will be at home and OSU will venture north on a trip to Portland State on the 20th.
Beavs and Bobcats
• OSU will play in front of the home crowd first against Montana State on Thursday.
• Oregon State and Montana State will meet for the 21st time in a series the Beavs lead 11-9.
• The Bobcats were the first opponent of the Behonick era, back in August ’23.
Beavs and Anteaters
• Oregon State and UC Irvine will meet for the sixth time and first since 2019.
• The Beavers lead the series by a 3-2 margin and swept the Anteaters in Eugene in the last meeting.
• Following the setback to Long Beach State in weekend one, OSU will look to even their record against teams from the Big West.
Beavs and Rebels
• Oregon State will close the event on Saturday afternoon against UNLV.
• It will be the fifth meeting all-time in a deadlocked series and just the first since 2010.
• UNLV will be the fifth match against a Mountain West school in the Behonick era. In that time, the Beavers have met Boise State twice, Fresno State, Nevada and now, UNLV.
Last Time Out
• Oregon State swept UC San Diego and Boise State following a close four-set loss to Arizona last week in Boise.
• Rumel and Alana Marrs were named to the event’s All-Tournament Team.
Conference Honors
• Hester and Rumel were honored by the WCC as members of the all-conference preseason team.
• The duo ended ’24 on the league’s First Team while Rumel earned a spot on the All-Academic Team.
Heading Back To The Pac
• Oregon State closes its two-year stint as an affiliate member of the WCC in 2025.
• Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State will join OSU and Washington State in a rebuilt Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.
She’s Ms. America
• Before the season started, Rumel was named to the United States’ U23 roster for the NORCECA Pan-American Championships and helped lead the team to a gold medal-winning finish.
• She was the only selection on the team from a WCC school.
Island Connection
• Only three WCC programs can claim a league-high three student-athletes from Hawai‘i—and Oregon State is one of them. The Beavers’ trio highlights the program’s ties to talent across the Pacific.
Worldwide Beavs
• Oregon State has four international student-athletes, which is among the most in the league.
• In the previous two years in the Behonick era, the Beavs had three each.
• International Beavs include Maëli Cormier (Canada), Yasemin Narlioğlu (Turkey), Scholz (Germany) and Tia Shum (Canada)
• The Beavers only trail San Francisco, who have seven.
