DONOVAN CLINGAN AND YANG HANSEN SELECTED TO COMPETE IN 2026 CASTROL RISING STARS
PORTLAND, Ore. (January 26, 2026) – Portland Trail Blazers centers Donovan Clingan and Yang Hansen have been selected as 2026 Castrol Rising Stars, the NBA announced today.
Clingan and Yang are two of the 28 total players selected, which includes 21 NBA rookies and sophomores plus seven players who have played in NBA G League games this season.
Coming off an NBA All-Rookie Second Team selection in 2024-25, Clingan has continued his production during his sophomore season—averaging 11.3 points (53.5 FG%, 31.1 3FG%), 10.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 42 games (all starts) this season.
Clingan has asserted himself as one of the league top rebounders as just a second-year player—ranking top five in the entire NBA in offensive rebounds per game (3rd/4.4), rebounds per game (4th/10.9), offensive rebounding percentage (2nd/14.5%).
Clingan also leads the entire NBA in total offensive rebounds (185) and ranks third in total rebounds (459). Among qualifying players, Clingan is one of just seven players in the entire NBA currently averaging a double-double.
On the defensive end, his 12.8 contested shots per game lead the entire NBA.
Yang has played eight total games with the Rip City Remix, the Trail Blazers’ G League affiliate, averaging 17.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 blocks in 30.8 minutes per game.
The Zibo, Shandong, China native has also appeared in 26 games (one start) for the Trail Blazers, averaging 2.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 8.3 minutes per game.
This year’s Castrol Rising Stars event will feature a mini-tournament with four teams and three games and is set to be played Friday, Feb. 13, at the LA Clippers’ Intuit Dome (6 p.m. PT, Peacock) as part of NBA All-Star 2026.
Following tonight’s announcement, the selected NBA rookies and sophomores will be drafted onto three teams on Tuesday (4 p.m. PT, Peacock), with the fourth team comprised of NBA G League players.
