Saelim Leads Lineup After Low First Round
STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon men’s golf team opened their second tournament and fourth round of the week with an even finish at The Goodwin.
Sophomore Ramil Saelim and senior Casper Nerpin led the lineup to sit in a tie for second after 18 holes. Saelim is in a tie for second, just a stroke behind the leader, at 5-under.
How It Happened
Coming off a 3-under 68 in the final round of the Duck Invitational on Tuesday, Saelim carried the momentum into Thursday’s first round and carded a 5-under 65, his lowest result of the spring season.
Nerpin fired off four birdies for his sixth round under par this year. The senior transfer went 3-under to open The Goodwin and stands at No. 9 on the leaderboard.
Aiden Krafft, Sebastian Desoisa and Jeffrey Kwak were all foiled by a double bogey at various points in their rounds, finishing over par on day one. Competing as an individual, freshman Oscar Lent marked an even three birdies and bogeys, but a double bogey put him two over on the day as well.
